Institute of Automotive Mechanical Engineers is an Association for individuals and organisations in the Automotive industry.
Our aims are to further the interests of our Members at all levels through knowledge, awareness and the sharing of expertise.

The IAME would welcome you as a member and it is a very easy process to join.

DIVISIONS OF THE IAME

Members of the IAME are drawn from all avenues of the Automotive Industry. The following established Divisions are constantly monitored so that any change to the Industry is acknowledged and provision made within the Institute to provide relevant benefits.

Required to have the equivalent of up to 1500 hours of learning, training and assessments with trade experience including apprenticeship and either hold an acceptable exemption or pass the IAME examination requirements at the level required by the IAME council. Master Members must be able to apply knowledge and skills to demonstrate autonomy, judgement and defined responsibility in known or changing contexts and within broad but established parameters.


MEMBER
MIAME


Required to have the equivalent of up to 1200 hours of learning, training and assessments with trade experience including apprenticeship and either hold an acceptable exemption or pass the IAME examination requirements at the level required by the IAME council.


ASSOCIATE
MEMBER
AMIAME


Required to have the equivalent of up to 900 hours of learning, training and assessments with trade experience including apprenticeship and either hold an acceptable exemption or pass the IAME examination requirements at the level required by the IAME council.


ASSOCIATE
AIAME


Required to have the equivalent of up to 600 hours of learning, training and assessments with trade experience including apprenticeship and either hold an acceptable exemption or pass the IAME examination requirements at the level required by the IAME council.

A person who passes the IAME examination requirements at a particular level, but because of the lack of trade experience is not able to obtain that level, is awarded a lower grade and may automatically be advanced to the higher grade upon meeting the requirements of trade experience or it’s equivalent.

The IAME Examination Fee is AUD$350.00.

NON GRADED MEMBERSHIP

CORPORATE


This category is available for organisations, partnerships or companies who wish to be affiliated with the IAME.

AFFILIATE
PERSONAL


Available to people not necessarily involved in the servicing and repair of motor vehicles, but in related areas, or to persons who have sat the IAME entrance examination and have not satisfied the requirements for graded membership.

STUDENT MEMBERSHIP


The IAME is able to extend a very special offer of Membership at NO COST to students commencing their career in the Automotive Industry for the first year of membership.

To join the IAME all you need to do is complete and return the “Student” application form.

At the end of the first year’s membership it will be necessary for you to pay the student annual subscriptions if you wish to continue as a member. As you complete your studies and gain trade experience you can advance your membership grading within the Institute. This allows you to progress through the levels of Affiliate and Associate Member right up to our top grading of Master Member at full member rate.

STUDENT BASED TRAINEESHIPS (SBAT)


Whilst attending school and completing their Vocational Education and Training (VET) qualification the IAME will extend membership at no cost to SBATS until their VET is completed. Once complete the SBAT will be automatically upgraded to ‘Student Membership’.

MEMBERSHIP FEES 2017

One of the objectives of the IAME is to retain low cost membership fees whilst representing members and providing effective specialised services.

Membership Fee: AUD$220.00p.a.
Student/Retired: AUD$77.00p.a.


The fee is inclusive of GST and may be tax deductible.
