22nd September 2016

As sad as it was to see the 'The Beast' project car (aka SS VF1) take off into the sunset last week, it has made way for a new even more exciting IAME project car. Note the SS VF1 was sold 5 days after it was listed on Carsales.com, which took us all by surprise!

Enter the 'Dragon'. This 2016 Holden VF Series II SSV Redline is the NEW replacement project car just delivered yesterday at our Auburn office. The SS-V Redline is equipped with the 6.2L V8 LS3 engine also used in the Chevrolet Corvette C6 and ZR1 (2008-2013),and the Chevrolet Camaro SS (2010-2015). This comes after Holden replaces the L77 used in Holden V8 models between 2010-2015 (VE/VF1).

This LS3 boasts a phenomenal 304kW and 570Nm out of the box! This VF Series II SSV Redline also has the upgraded FE3 ultra sports suspension, paddle shift gear selection with GM's 6-speed 6L80e semi-automatic transmission, and huge stopping power provided by the front and rear 6 piston performance Brembo brakes. Not to mention the bimodal exhaust and mechanical sound enhancer expelling a symphony of cylinders with the sweetest V8 note.

This vehicle is likely to get the same treatment as the previous IAME. First up, a premium grade exhaust system from DPE (Milton VIC) is ordered which will include extractors all the way through to exhaust tips to deliver additional horsepower whilst assisting the engine to breathe freely.

Immediately after will be a cold air intake system to be installed and professionally tuned with the supplier to be announced in due course.

E85 is not standard on the SS-V Redline (as per the SS VF1) however we are currently working with GMH engineers to develop a system suitable for the LS3 engine. We are looking for members interested to participate in this program and would encourage that they contact our Auburn office and ask for Joe and mention that the call is in relation to the "IAME project car".

This is an exciting project for the IAME and its members and note that once the car is fully set-up, there are dyno's, trade nights and even track days planned for a chosen limited number of members who participate in the development of this car. Watch this space for more details.

Look forward to hearing your thoughts and views on our new SS-V Redline.
